Axonal Loss associated with delayed nerve transmission between the eye and the brain

Visual evoked potential are electrical activity measured over the visual cortex in the brain, when the eyes recieve a stimulus such as a flashing light. If the amplitude height of the electrical wave measured is reduced, the latency is usually associated with demyelination. This study links this to retinal thickness loss, which may be secondary to loss of axons in the optic nerve.
